Keppel Integrated Engineering forms second JV with Tianjin partners

Singapore, July 29 2008 -Keppel Integrated Engineering Limited (KIE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Corporation Limited, is pleased to announce that it signed an agreement to form a joint venture company, Tianjin Eco-City Energy Investment and Construction Co., Ltd (TECEIC) with Tianjin Eco-City Investment & Development Co., Ltd.(TECID Co.) and Tianjin Jinneng Investment Co. (Tianjin Jinneng).

This will be the second joint venture that KIE is partnering TECID Co. to explore opportunities for infrastructure projects in the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (SSTEC). Earlier on 11 June, KIE also formed a JV for environmental protection with TECID Co. and Tianjin TEDA Co., Ltd.

TECEIC will focus on the investment and implementation of energy and utilities-related infrastructure, as well as the operations and maintenance of these facilities in the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (SSTEC). TECEIC will also look into the development and promotion of renewable energy.

The joint venture company, TECEIC, will be 60% held by TECID Co., 20% held by Tianjin Jinneng and 20% held by KIE. The joint venture company’s registered capital of 200 million RMB will be contributed by the parties in cash in proportion to their shareholdings upon approval by the authorities.

Mr Goh Chin Aik, Director (Plant Operations and Utilities) of KIE and Board member of TECEIC, said, “This second partnership with TECID Co. strengthens the relationship we have with our local partners.

“We share the same vision that the Eco-City will present a myriad of opportunities for the development of efficient and green utility infrastructure and the promotion of renewable energy.”

Keppel Corporation Limited is the leader of the Singapore Consortium for the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (SSTEC).

The joint venture is not expected to have any material impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of Keppel Corporation Limited for the financial year ending 31 December 2008.
