Timely deliveries for environmental engineering projects

Keppel Seghers kickstarted the year with the on-time deliveries of two significant projects in Singapore.

At Tuas South, a Design-Build-Own-Operate (DBOO) project for Singapore’s fifth incineration plant saw the completion of the 100-metre chimney windshield on 28 January 2008.

The Waste-To-Energy (WTE) plant is currently in the midst of undergoing process equipment installation and is expected to be operational by 2009. It is expected to process 800 tonnes of solid waste a day and will generate more than 20 MW of green energy.

The construction and installation of the sewage processing module at the Changi Water Reclamation Plant (CWRP) for PUB also saw the successful commissioning of its sewage into liquid processing module on 29 January 2008.

The CWRP is part of the Deep Tunnel Sewage System which criss-crosses Singapore and receives sewage discharged from households islandwide before channelling the wastewater via gravity to various wastewater treatment plants.

Project Director, Mr Goh Chin Aik said, “Many construction activities were still ongoing when the commissioning commenced last August, so we had to double up during the construction to ensure on-time delivery.”
